The attempt in Arizona to pass a law permitting discrimination against gays and lesbians by Christians was thwarted by the overwhelming outcry of people in the 'real world.'   But the recent Duck…Continue

Your Religious Status
About Me:
I'm a poet and public speaker. My experiences with religion go way back into the hollers of West Virginia and continue on until around 2010 or so when I made peace with my mortality and discovered once I had acknowledged that one day I would die and cease to exist like... everything else that lives I will die...I discovered I hgad no need to God or supernaturalism.
Relationship Status
Why are you here?
I'm afraid and alone. I need people to talk to and I'm looking for some new input. I am about to retire this summer and I hope to find a cause I can dedicate myself too now that I will have the time to concentrate.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I was born in a preacher's family. From the very beginning I had an insider's view of religion. I knew the men who stood in the pulpit and I knew what they were like when they were around another preacher and his family and they could be as natural as preacher's ever are. I left Christianity because I knew it too well.

The Poet's Coroner: I Will Not Drink the Blood of a Fool

Posted on April 20, 2014 at 9:42pm 1 Comment

i will not drink the blood of a fool

when the glory of the lord shall shine

and blind men to his crimes

as the lies that he had promised me

would nail me to his tree

when all the angels in the dark

would brand me with the devil’s mark

i’d curse and cry with my last breath

‘i’ve still a half a bottle left!’

leave me alone, save someone else

i love my sinful, wicked self

take off of me this pit bull’s leash

save it for a…

Atheist Eulogy

Posted on April 20, 2014 at 9:34pm 8 Comments

My mother's funeral is Wednesday, 4/23/2014 and I'll be giving at least a part of the eulogy.

A little help here...and maybe an opportunity for discussion in general on the subject.

What is an 'Atheist Eulogy'?  What can my differing view of death bring to the table at a Wake?

I know it is totally inappropriate for me to try and convert the audience...I just wish Christians would give me the same respect.  Having God on your side is no excuse for being rude...but then,…

Dead man's Switch

Posted on April 18, 2014 at 11:29pm 0 Comments

Dead man’s Switch

i had a dollar in my pocket

at least, i did before i spent it

on some trinket or some locket

that now is lost and i resent it

there is nothing quite as gone

as a dollar when it’s spent

nothing leaves you as alone

wondering where the dollar went

a dollar anticipated

is a great treasure for a man

but a dollar dissipated

grates on your soul like sand

to owe a dollar to another

is a dollar spent on guilt
