I'm a middle-aged, middle-class white woman with attitude. I worked my way through a graduate program in college, and now have a Ph.D. in Biology, which I use teaching students things they don't want to hear, only to have to deal day after day with "Where do you get off teaching (fill in the blank with your favorite Creationist dispute)" from kids who haven't bothered to spend any time actually thinking about their religion.
Why are you here?
A very special person invited me, so I thought I'd look it over. I'm living in the center of the US a long way away from anything resembling rationality
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
There was no empirical evidence to support the existence of any of the world's many gods.

Morgan - I'm looking forward to knowing some of the people here. Sometimes it gets lonely in the Midwest, when everyone expects you to share their god. I love teaching, and would love to share my experiences with you. I've taught mostly in Texas and Nebraska, mostly Ecology and Environmental Science, but I've also taught General Biology, so I get plenty of opportunities to patiently explain to outraged students exactly why I am teaching them that the world is 4.5 billion years old, and that humans were living in Africa at least 800,000 years ago. It adds a lot of spice to life, but sometimes, at my age, I'd really rather have just a little bit more blandness.
