"I'm a HUGE believer in self teaching. But I think that also includes seeking out others with the knowledge you want to have to teach you. It's all good.
I am the opposite with those two crafts though. I could not get the hang of knitting…"

I've been officially labeling myself as Atheist for the past 8 years when a mom from my son's homeschool group invited me to a discussion of God's gifts to children. Being in the homeschooling community I couldn't hold it in any longer and had to accept my atheist label even though it has so many negative connotations.
Other than being an atheist I am an unschooling mom to three kids ages 5-13. My husband and I just celebrated our 18 wedding anniversary. Other things I enjoy are raising chickens, gardening (mostly veg but more and more flowers), paper filled crafts (cardmaking, scrapbooking etc).
Why are you here?
I was looking for other atheist crafty types.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I was never strongly religious nor grew up in a strongly religious family. However, most of my friends where conservative Christians (before I even knew that the term existed). I went to church with them and tried hard to be Christian. I began realizing that these people may be full of it when my youth pastor started gay bashing and telling tells of his past satanist days. That was the beginning of many years of coming to realize that man created God and not the other way around.
