Mermaids?

So, I know some of you had to watch the program on Animal Planet about mermaids that aired a few days ago. (Or at least I am hoping that some of you have) Interesting stuff huh. Rationally, could there have been a line that evolved in the water rather than on land? I think it's entirely possible, but what about proof. By now we all know that the shows on Animal Planet were hoaxes. But what about all the people throughout history who claim to have seen mermaids? Were they lying, or is it a…See More

About Me:
I am 39, married, and the mother of 3 awesome adult children, and the grandma to one almost newborn baby girl... any day now (as of 4/16/13)
I've always questioned religion, then figured out that it's all a bunch of BS. I can't understand why people think there is this all powerful being, that is supposedly all loving, generous and kind, yet he/she/it allows people to kill other people in his/her/it's name. WTF is up with that? Not to mention all the suffering that goes on... where's the kindness and loving there???
Age
36-40
Why are you here?
To meet and talk with like minded people, who are not complete idiots that think just because I'm an atheist that I worship satan or something... my response to those people... wouldn't I have to believe in god to believe in satan??? Come on idiots... grow a fricken brain already!
The religion you left
Was never a part of one
Why you left your religion.
I was never truly a part of any religion. My parents were very open with me and allowed me to chose my own path. I did try out several different religions, christianity, baptist, catholicism, wicca, paganism... to no avail. Nothing felt quite right because it all felt like a bunch of bull. I'm sorry but I have a lot of trouble believing that there is some old guy with a long white beard and hair just waiting for me to pledge my soul to, just so he can be my 'friend'... damn, if he really wants to be my friend, then he needs to get off his cloud, and come down here and introduce himself... sorry I don't do invisible! You could be watching me without me even knowing!!! How scary is that .... for you! LMAO

Just for the record

Just for the record, I'm a new Atheist. I have never been involved in organized religion, however some of my aunts and uncles are. They are mormonites, and I can not for the life of me figure that out. I've tried to study mormonism, but there is just too much that doesn't make sense. The one thing I've always known, or felt, or however you want to put it, is that to me, god was just like an imaginary friend. I've never believed he/she existed. Prayer to me is a joke. I have often asked my family members what prayer means to them, and usually I get some form of the answer, "it brings me closer to god." When I was a child, I really upset my aunt by responding "Well, have you ever been close enough to actually see him?" That went over like a lead balloon. She tried to tell me she could see god in everything... so of course, being the inquisitive child I was, I started asking her if she could see him in a rock, or in a sandwich... she got a kick out of the sandwich one though. She said yes, then I immediately said, "Does he taste good then?" Out of the mouths of babes....

I'm currently in college, majoring in psychology. I'm in my second semester, and one of the classes I'm taking this semester is Philosophy 101. We just started into the module dealing with religion and whether or not god exists. This is an online course, so we have to post discussions to get credit for the readings... we have to prove we have read the text by posting responses to questions the instructor has asked.... needless to say, there are a lot of very religious people taking this class, and they do not respond nicely to atheist... and thankfully, I'm not the only atheist in the class!

I plan to blog my responses to the questions for this unit, so tell me what you guys think... when I get around to getting the blog up...

In Laws...

Posted on May 21, 2013 at 2:52pm 6 Comments

Ok, so my husband and I got married on March 15 2013. We'd been together for a bit more than a year before we got married. We've lived with his parents for little less than a year now and its been horrible. So, I'm really asking for help on how to deal with the situations I am subjected to every day...

My mother in law is a control freak. She dwells on things that happened in the past that for whatever reason, she just can't let go of. She is cruel to her husband, and he isn't so nice…
