I am a father of a perfect and beautiful five year old boy named Gage. He is the single most important part of my life. I am an Atheist and have been since the age of thirteen.

Why are you here?

I am 34 years old and I am divorced. I have an amazing girlfriend (until she dumps me lol) who is a very devout Reformed Protestant. We are perfect for each other in every way that my former wife and I were not. We enjoy the same food, clothing, movies, music, friends, sex, you name it. I spend every moment showing her love, compassion, and friendship that she cannot deny and she to me. Yet she still thinks I'm going to hell. Haha go figure. I am never in a loss for amazement where the limits of religion are concerned. The blindness to it's unending contradiction is mind boggling. I know that my girlfriend loves me and she has said so. Yet her beliefs, as so many have, control her to a point that she feels crushed with the conflict between what she has been taught and what she feels. I have seen it in myself when I was younger and in so many along the way. I do not choose to NOT believe. I have never been made privy to any logical or even illogical reason that convinces me to believe. I am so glad to see that the world (especially the U.S.) has so many free thinkers. I remember learning about Voltaire, Darwin and many others alike, by the religious as a child, as if they were the devils cohorts. It's enchanting to find that there are such rebels of delusion. I wish to join you all in the fight for the future for my son. Our sons and daughters will know one day that questions are the true way to answers...and arrogance is the worst half of ignorance.

Why you left your religion.

I was, like many others, "blessed" with the ability to read between the lines. Even as a child I could see that the answers that were given made little sense when weighed against real life. I could simply read the bible word for word, line for line and see that the parts that I was told to read were in direct contradiction to the ones at times before them or after them. It was only a matter of time before my questions became full fledged blasphemy.
