One thing that we need to do as Atheists is find a way to build a community.  How many people don't really believe in God but still go to church just so they have a place they belong, a sense of…Continue

Mike replied to CAPTAIN OBVIOUS's discussion 'What's gained by being an atheist (not religious)'
"That is an interesting question but it raises one with me that I have often wondered about the christians who say why risk it (not believing in god).  If there is one and you believe you win.  If there isn't one and you believe what…"

charitable donations

I want to tap the collective knowledge of a non-religious community so maybe someone can help.  I have a whole wardrobe of women's clothing that I want to donate but I do not want to donate it to a religious based charity.  My wife died 9 months ago and I may finally be ready to donate her clothes.  I do not want to support a homophobic organization that feeds and spreads hatred and prejudice through the country.  I don't want them to get the credit for whoever this donations helps.  I have…See More

Maybe if God weren't so busy helping Tim Tebow win football games on Sunday he could cure my wife's cancer.  I guess some things are more important than others.

Thank you Robert. I wish my husband Todd would talk to someone, but he just says he's fine. As for me, I'm trying to not think in terms of expiry dates. It's just so hard in the bc community's "be happy or die" and emphasis on "spirituality."  The one atheist thread on breastcancer.org just degenerated into anti-religion jokes.
