I have begun looking into forming an atheist/freethinkers organization at my university. While I am very excited to begin, and I am also apprehensive. My best friend (also an atheist) strongly…Continue

I think it was on T/A that I read someone's response to a Christian who was rationalizing his religion.  The dissenter pointed out that even among the other religions, Christianity is one of the…Continue

Started this discussion. Last reply by enlightenmentisntsoscary Apr 28, 2011. 12 Replies

I have been toying with the idea of promoting Think Atheist at my college for quite some time.  Just little ways, like perhaps a poster, or even a chalk drawing. Does anyone have any creative ideas…Continue

"I would just go ahead and do it.  If a potential employer is going to practice unjust discrimination against me because of my lack of religious belief, then I would not want to work there in the first place.  Why hide who I am for the sake…"

Atheist Job Discrimination?

I have begun looking into forming an atheist/freethinkers organization at my university. While I am very excited to begin, and I am also apprehensive. My best friend (also an atheist) strongly suggested that I DO NOT start a club, or even become the administrator of an atheist facebook group for my college, because it could be a potential source of job discrimination. I know that employers often look at your facebook when considering whether to employ you, and if a religious/religiously…See More

"I tend to avoid calling myself anything at first; I usually say I'm "not religious" or "do not subscribe to any religion." This works, because normally someone will ask me what my religion is, not whether or not I believe in…"

Yes, I do remember you welcoming me to the Ithaca Meet-up. Hope to meet with you in person soon enough. Allegra is my daughter and also attending college in the area. She is not very active on T/A since she too is very busy with school, but she has made it to one meet-up so far. We've met some awfully nice folks at the meetings and look forward to making your acquaintance.
