I am a mother to two beautiful children and a wife to a pilot in the US Army.
Why are you here?
I am here to read stories and share stories with those who hold the same doubt. Mostly though, I am hoping this site will be an escape for me during times when the religious begin to overwhelm and infuriate.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
Emotionally and mentally I left Catholicism at the age of 7 when I told my father that nothing I was being taught at church made any sense. He told me that it would all make perfect sense when I got older. That never happened. For a long time I stuck with the agnostic label as I felt it was less severe and had less of a stigma attached than atheist. But in 2010, while my husband was deployed, I came across The Atheist Experience on YouTube and my thoughts were finally validated. I discovered that there are many people who share my position and that 'Atheist' wasn't a bad word. Acknowledging my atheism was the single most freeing and relieving experience I've ever had.
