Thank you for your support!

The staff of Think Atheist asked the community to support one of our own– me!– in the goal of raising money for the Light the Night walk I participated in tonight. The money raised for this walk went to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. I met survivors tonight as well as people who were walking for loved ones they had lost, and it was an incredibly humbling and touching experience.I am so grateful to those of you who shared the link and/or donated to this great cause.…See More

Remembering...

I gave someone (a Christian I love very much) a copy of a book recently at their request. I knew that the book would probably cause them to do some questioning about the origins of their religion. I thought it was cool that they asked me for it. To make a long story short, this person read about a chapter and then stopped. I’m not sure if he’ll pick it up again, but it didn’t seem likely that he would. He said he had “heard that stuff before,” and then gave me an apologetic response to it. I…

My Testimony

DISCLAIMER: It may not be what you’re expecting—it may even upset you—but it’s the truth, and that is truly what matters to me.

“I once was lost, but now am found... was blind, but now I see.”

(Amazing Grace)

The meaning of those words has changed dramatically for me in the last several years.

I was born and raised in the Christian faith. When I was a little girl, we attended a Presbyterian church.…

Hah, the funny thing is, the reasons I have been given as to WHY my invitation of J.C. to enter my heart didn't happen.

1.)  You prayed the wrong way, you need to ask for 'such and such'

2.)  You need to wait, Gods time is not our time.

3.)  You prayed for the wrong reason, so you could impress the Catholic girl you were dating.

4.)  Oh look at you now, you're successful with your own business and you're healthy!  God is watching out for you!

It's like God always wins because the bible is the big book of multiple choice.  So funny.

Hope you stick around in these forums, you have a nice writing style :)

Hello there Think Atheist Friend. I guess you found me after I commented on your blog post. My story goes something like this. Dated a few catholic girls and they all told me I was going to hell for not believing in Jesus so one day I had a crisis, convulsing, in tears , fell to my knees and asked Jesus into my heart and to provide me a sign of some sort, a touch, a sparkle, to speak to me. Obviously nothing happened and from that day forth I knew it was all b.s. Your story is so much better though...

isn't there just? it's a great community. i enjoy how perfect an example it is that there's no dogma or doctrine inherent in atheism; there's such a diverse body of opinions here. the only thing everyone has in common is their skepticism of religion. plus, there's some very intelligent people here. please remember to let me know without hesitation should you have any questions about anything.
puppy's good! she's so freakin smart! i had been giving her a little treat when she was good on the leash so when i taught her to ring a bell when she needs to go out she put together this string of inferences that culminated in her realization that she could ring the bell, go out, come back, and get a treat. so she tried to trick me by ringing the bell, going out just to look at me, and then come back in and wait for her treat. she did this six times in a row! i would sit down to read and she'd ring the bell again! LOL.
