"I didn't recognize the passage either, but it has nothing to do with ignorance. It is because no where in Mark or any of the Bible does this occur - "Heck, in Mark Jesus was even critical that the Jews ignored the commandment of killing…"
"The author of the paper is not a sociologist, and judging from his CV he doesn't even hold a degree. He is an illustrator and a freelance paleontologist. Seems he did some work for the Jurassic Park movie as well, but I won't hold that…"
""Christians. Stay out of developing countries with your message."

"@ Ed - So is it just my logic about the existence of God that is clouded or my logic in general?
I'm still curious about your astrology position, do you believe/practice (whichever term you prefer) it?"
"The problem with reading the Bible to justify your position rather than actually trying to understand is that you will never truly understand. This holds true for believers and non-believers.
Reading it in this manner gives you comfort as you…"

"@Gaytor Thanks for the discussion.
I apologize to anyone offended by my perceived trivializing of the more important issues of mental illness and the death of the child for the sake of my own arrogance."
Leo, I've been thinking more and more about our exchange. Not the points of it because I of course am never wrong. :-) I have a monopoly on being right! I commented to Dan that I really want to be welcoming to theists, but I allow myself to be dragged into arguments versus making a point and leaving it alone. I hope that you feel welcome to make your points and we all get to learn from it. I find that I fall into this intellectual pothole on debates with theists and you were the better man in getting out of it on ours. It points out an area of growth I should seek with more sincerity. Thank you.
