"I don't think I've ever been deeply in love. Yes, I have loved. But loved to the point where you can think of nothing else? No, I've never been that much in love. Perhaps I keep myself too distant from others to even allow that kind…"
"I'm sorry for your loss. Caring for an ill relative can be so taxing, and then to raise a child on top of that - you have great strength Sydni! I definitely believe in the power of fresh starts, so I'm hoping you find a lot of happiness as…"
"No, I honestly don't think there is a smarter woman on US TV. I love how she calls people out and puts them in their place. If you go to her page on msnbc.com, you can see previous episodes that have aired on TV."
"Oh, I absolutely agree with this. The dating game is all about deception whether you're doing it online or face-to-face. I guess my main issue just comes down to trust. How do I really know that the person on the other side of the screen is the…"
"I've never used an online dating service. I'm a little bit hesitant to do so. The anonymity of the Internet makes it way too easy for people to lie about their personality, looks, etc. Even pictures can be touched up to make someone look…"
"Yes, I'm picky. First and foremost, I'm looking for a man who is also an atheist. I've tried the whole "you're a theist and I'm an atheist" route and it just doesn't work for me.
I would also really like to…"
"Why am I single? Good question. I can definitely relate to many of the reasons stated above: lost in love and still tending my wounds, afraid to get too close, can't find an atheist mate, shy and introverted, picky, so on and so forth. I think…"
I was raised (and am still living) in an area that is predominately conservative and Christian, and yet somehow, I turned out liberal and Atheist. I'm still not quite sure how that happened. I would love to move, but that's just not an option right now. I would like to meet people who do not shun me just because I don't believe in an imaginary being, even if the Internet is the only place we will ever see each other.
Why are you here?
I'm an atheist who is still in the closet, mainly because I live in an extremely conservative and Christian area. This is my way of being around people who understand me. And in the end, isn't that what we are all looking for in life?
The religion you left
Was never a part of one
Why you left your religion.
I can't say that I was ever "in" religion to begin with. My parents are not very religious, and therefore didn't raise me to be religious. My mother and I tried the whole church thing for a few years when I was in middle school. I don't really remember why we quit going, but I do remember that I had been questioning the existence of a god before that point, and after, I was pretty sure the whole thing was a lie. I didn't find out until I was in high school that there are other people out there who, like me, don't believe in gods - and we are atheists. That was when I officially gave up trying to believe something that just didn't make any sense.
