KT replied to Ama Maduako's discussion 'Would you 'convert' someone to Atheism if it meant destroying their moral framework?'
"Right, and that's been established.  The problem is that you defined aggressiveness as NOT excluding sensitivity.  Being politically correct IS being sensitive ie, acceptance and tolerance.  So by your own admittance with your…"

KT replied to Ama Maduako's discussion 'Would you 'convert' someone to Atheism if it meant destroying their moral framework?'
"You've implied that being politically correct isn't being aggressive, but then say that aggressiveness doesn't preclude sensitivity (being politically correct).  If aggressiveness is about moving forward to reach a goal, then an…"

KT replied to Derek's discussion 'Do Atheists believe in soulmates (in general)?'
"There is no perfect match and no soulmate.  There are billions of people in this world and there will always be someone that's better or worse than your partner.  That's the reality.     And yes, there is somebody for…"

KT replied to Ama Maduako's discussion 'Would you 'convert' someone to Atheism if it meant destroying their moral framework?'
"Regardless of being a dickhead or not, the point is that if you're aggressive, you're less likely to talk some sense into people.  Think about it.  I'm sure you get annoyed when they get confrontational with you,…"

KT replied to Ama Maduako's discussion 'Would you 'convert' someone to Atheism if it meant destroying their moral framework?'
"It's not about political correctness; it's about common sense.  Going head-first into a zealot, or even someone with passive faith, won't accomplish much.  You have to use strategy and tact with the approach.  Are you…"

KT replied to Ama Maduako's discussion 'Would you 'convert' someone to Atheism if it meant destroying their moral framework?'
"Yup.  One can't force people to not believe in their faith.  People have to figure these things out on their own."

"Actually, I get more of a kick out of this one.    Be playful; toy with them.  "

KT replied to Laura Johnson's discussion 'Devout christians and psychology???'
"Heh, you think that's bad, try seeing the folks in medicine.  It boggles my mind how the foundations of medicine are overlooked by so many in the medical field."

Why are you here?
Like-minded individuals.
Why you left your religion.
I'm Sikh by identity. It's a philosophy for me, much like any other religion. It just never made sense to me that there was something watching us all the time and yet we couldn't find evidence for that mode of thought.

I'm also not against religion (except when it breaks the 1st amendment), it's just not for me. If religion benefits someone else, so be it. I don't tend to mock people for it either, unless it's called for.

To me, religions are nothing more than a placebo.
