So I'm an intern at a funeral home in a small town (about 15,000 people), it's a pretty religious town, consisting mostly of catholics or baptists. I was coming out of the shower yesterday thinking about having just joined think atheist and I came to a conclusion, I will no longer be afraid of being an atheist. I want to be able to be just as proud to be an atheist as the religious are of their beliefs. I wish I could post that I'm an atheist on the back of my car without everybody tisking at me and scowling, or take a book on atheism out of the library without a librarian giving me an awkward look.
