- At church camp, after I was baptised, I didn't FEEL anything. Which struck me as rather odd, I mean, here I am undergoing the most meaningful event of my christian life and there's nothing there... The sky wasn't brighter, the text in the bible made no more sense than it did before, no gods love washing the sin away from my skin, just nothing.
After this happened I began asking the pastors questions about biblical contradictions, such as how can god tell murder is a sin, when he commanded so many to be "slaughtered" in his name. There was no answer other than, well you just need to have faith. The inability to explain any of god's seemingly two faces met with only annoyance, being reprimanded and threats of eternal damnation for questioning what I was being taught.
This only set to drive me away from christianity.
After I realised that something so full of absurd idea's, sadistic messages, and hypocritical messages, I thought, surely not all religion can be like this. So I spent the next few years of my life researching what religions I could. Finding that each one was exactly the same as before. This was followed by historical religious research; when were these estabilished or recognised by the people, why did it die out, what spawned from this, and so on and so on.
Over time I simply came to understand religion was nothing more than an element for control, a symbolic scare tactic.
I am in full support of logic and reasoning. I am an atheist and say so without fear of proclaiming it to the world and everyone in it.
