"Here in Australia we have a few topless hair salons, all these men go to get their hair cut by half naked women, it's kinda wierd. We also have our fair share of nude beaches. Yeah, just figured cause ya'll are talking about nudity…"

"Hey Josie. Like the others, not too sure why you would choose Alabama as your destination but you'll find it to be better than you think. I grew up in Vermont (random small state in the Northeastern US that is comparatively…"
"I'm not Alabaman, but I've lived in the area. The surrounding states and all the way to the Atlantic coast seem similar to me, but the pervasiveness of religion still depends a lot more on city size. Generally speaking, the larger the…"
"My funny story on my way through Mobile Alabama 1975, on a Greyhound bus!

Hey guys, my name's Josie and I'm from Western Australia. Now my country is very very different to America. It's a very secular country and religion doesn't play a big roll if not any roll in polotics. In many ways I think of it as a complete opposite to America in terms of religion and secularism, I can even guarantee that most Autralian's haven't even heard the term "Creationist", just check out this link if you're interested in my countries backstory on irreligion…See More
ummm, let's see... well I love reading, writing, (ancient) history, mythology, indie/rock music, stand-up comedy, astronomy and I think biology is pretty cool.
I'm Australian Aboriginal on my Dad's side and on my Mum's Ukrainian, although I can't speak Russian, I can speak French :)
Why are you here?
For the education I guess, this stuff interests me, I think it's cool learning what others think/believe :)

Hello and welcome form Knoxville, Tennessee. I was reading about being an atheist in Alabama. I am just North of there in East Tennessee. I belong to a group call ASK (Atheist Society of Knoxville). We have around 480 members and 20 - 30 meet weekly at Barley's Tap Room. I think the high number of members may be due to this being a university city and close to Oak Ridge which has a high number of scientist and PHDs in a lot of fields.
