The same God?

Wonder if anyone has an answer to this puzzle? The New Testament God is a Holy Trinity and Jesus, the Son is one of its entities. The Jews of the Old Testament do not believe that Jesus is God, not…Continue

David replied to Jimmy N.'s discussion 'The same God?'
"Firstly, we are dealing with religion, coherency and sense are not mandatory. Secondly, the question you have put before us is far more complicated than you may think. Not all factions of the Jewish or Christian faiths agree internally with each…"

"Could it be that the OT God reinvented himself into the trinity for the NT? Afterall Jesus did not exist before the NT and could not have been part of the OT God."

Brian Wood replied to Jimmy N.'s discussion 'The same God?'
"A fine question.  Pagans had many triple gods and goddesses.  All's I know is that if the trinity is, then "jesus"™ was either complicit in his mom's rape or was jes' watchin'.  Creepy."

"Having not studied Jewish belief very much I can really only speculate... Perhaps the NT kind of forces itself into the story... kind of like in a movie, if there is not an opening to a sequel then there is this kind of gap which the sequel writers…"

The same God?

Wonder if anyone has an answer to this puzzle? The New Testament God is a Holy Trinity and Jesus, the Son is one of its entities. The Jews of the Old Testament do not believe that Jesus is God, not even close. Why then are the Christians happy to claim that the God of the OT and NT are one and the same??See More

Anyone who I have ever showed this video to has spent 15 minutes with their jaw dropped.

"Amazing M M. Thank you. I never felt such peace of mind as when I was finally able to break away from the fear and guilt of religion."

"I believe there will be every effort to convert you before marriage. I successful, then the problem will solve itself. If not and if the marriage goes ahead, I predict that you will have a life of constant conflict. It will be difficult especially…"

"Might be prolonging the agony Freek. When I return from holiday and have not changed my mind the whole onslaught will start again. However, a holiday is a good idea to give myself a break."

Freek replied to Jimmy N.'s discussion 'I just want peace of mind'
"If you can convince them that without 'the spark of God' all their effort is useless, they might let go. Leaving the family is a huge step with pretty big consequences (as you said). Although you could also try a leave of absence in which…"

"Thanks Artor. Been there. Have you noticed how they are able to ignore what is uncomfortable to them? Loyalty to the cause (of conversion) has no room for petty things like reason/logic. Faith is all that is necessary. Why do you think God did not…"

Artor replied to Jimmy N.'s discussion 'I just want peace of mind'
"Are you well-read on the Bible? When they come a-preaching at you, you can do some spiritual judo and throw them for a loop. For every quote they use to browbeat you into joining the borg collective, you can return one that shows what an abomination…"

"You could be right Doug. I addressed some of your points in my reply to Freek. Leaving may be the only option. I do not thinking complaining to relevant authorities will get me anywhere. But heck, why should I leave MY house for something so…"

Jimmy N. replied to Jimmy N.'s discussion 'I just want peace of mind'
"Many thanks for the good advice Freek. I give it a try. My fear is that the bible says they must spread the word of God (to convert as many as they can). In his name they feel empowered and justified to convert you by almost any means. History…"

About Me:
Was born RC but gave up active participation in the seventies. Eventually gave up all affiliations in the nineties when I began to really discover all the crap, misery and evil dished out by religion. I currently live in an family environment of born again christians (not RC). Wife, daughters, in-laws - all god-fearing, self-righteous christians.
Age
59-64
Why are you here?
I need help (support group) in fending off the constant attempts of dragging me back into the mess they call christianity. They create situations, interventions and harrassment some subtle and others not so. So far I have been strong but I need this to stop.
The religion you left
Catholic
Why you left your religion.
Religion is the cause of most of the misery and evil in the world today. It is about control, domination and greed in the name of god. In particular, the 3 major religions, C, I, and J.
