I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian sect. I got bored with it, stopped attending church, and slowly realized I'm an atheist the more I researched both sides of the debate.

I didn't feel the "blessed assurance of salvation" that the church was always telling me that all believers feel.
Church is fucking boring.
I hated giving away my money to an organization that provided me with nothing of value.
Putting on a facade to keep my judgmental peers happy violated my inner conviction to honesty.
I love fornication and many other things that the Bible needlessly forbids. The rules that I was raised to follow only made life less enjoyable.
I saw the blatant hypocrisy in all of my Christian peers, who would pick and choose which parts of the Bible they wanted to adhere to and which parts were ok to overlook. My disdain for dishonesty could not overlook this intellectually and morally dishonest practice.
