I'm happy to be a member of this site and to continue learning from this community of realists. I can only hope that in finding a common truth as individuals we find ourselves in a place to build a more thoughtful and caring world in the future.

Why you left your religion.
I'm also a recovered evangelical bible thumping kid, who grew up determined to be a missionary and minister from the age of seven. I was fortunate enough at age 15 to have exposure to fact based educational programs in science, math and philosophy which I consumed with a passion that would soon surpass my religious beliefs. Within two years I would never return to church. By the time I entered collee, I pursued a new mission, to seek truth found in math and science and education in general,to release religious strangle-holds in those who were brain washed, and to seek equality and freedom for all. Shortly after I learned this was a very tall order, so I pursued smaller battles by educating myself and others along the way. While those big idealistic plans had the best of intentions I would learn to accept that we are all individuals who have the natural right to think and believe whatever we want, who are responsible for our own actions, our own willingness to learn and develop our intellect, and are individuals solely in charge of our own paths in life.
