Man, church was BORING. I distinctly remember counting the minutes down after communion. Ok, the priest is going to now make announcements, then we're going to sing, then we're going to pray for a sick parishioner... we can literally WRAP THIS UP in about 5 minutes if we are time efficient.

One in an odd blue moon on our atheist forebears

So i was thinking about Madalyn Murray O'Hair. I bet most of you are too young to remember her (as i scan the demographics, a significant portion of you are in your mid 20s and younger). And a number of you aren't American.

I hope I'm not repeating a post if any of you mentioned O'Hair already.

Madalyn Muarry O'Hair was the founder of American Atheists. Founded in 1963. When this country was knee deep in Christian dogma. Good grief, in my history class I learned people… Continue

Leaving it is still hard

For those who weren't born with this monkey on your back, "count your blessings." As I read some of the posts of former thumpers on exchristian.net and some of the testimonials here, it is gut-wrenching. What amazes me the most are the hardcore religionists who grew up in the Bible Belt. Their backgrounds are heart breaking. They go through their whole lives promoting and defending these Biblical stories and then one day they wake up not being "in love" with the idea anymore. One great example… Continue

Arguing with Christians

Can we talk, FUN TIMES. If you haven't had the pleasure of engaging in such vigorous debate, I

can't recommend it highly enough. In spite of the fact I haven't successfully deprogrammed anybody yet, the one big drawback is that I DON'T GET TO DO IT ENOUGH. I'm looking at you Helen, I love me a good argument.

Of course the obvious caveat is that before you engage in battle you must know your opponent well enough that he won't go all jihad on your ass. There's nothing scarier than… Continue

Roman Catholicism - the Big Mac of religion

Posted on January 7, 2009 at 12:50pm 1 Comment

OK, for you non-churchies, I will school you on some of the basics of what it's like going to a Catholic church. Hopefully the institution will go the way of the DoDo, facial hair on men, and disco and what I'm writing here will be THE definitive/wikipedia description of what church is like. Cause of course what I'm writing here is all true (yeah right).

For the Roman Catholic, church is 1 hour (should be, no more no less). You forgive if they go over a LITTLE because hey, you're a… Continue

My "Church"

So, putting my toe into the whole atheism thing, I really have to give props to www.friendlyatheist.com I haven't read any of those fancy books like The God Delusion or End of Faith cuz I'z cain'ts readz and my adult on-set ADHD precludes me from any successful attempts at finishing a book. I was already a non-believer before putting a name to it, so, I saved myself $25.95 plus tax.

Hemant (aka friendlyatheist) once talked about altruism and how churches have a monopoly on… Continue

Hello! Tnx for commenting on my blog.. Yup, you're right there's a reenactment of Christ's suffering every holyfriday. Actually, it is done in my hometown in Pampanga. Philippines is such a religios catholic country. I've been there only once.. hmmn that was last year. I had sun burns and wounds on my feet, I was also exhausted and dehydrated. Hehe! I guess I'm gonna post some photos. Thanks for making me remember!
