About Me:
I'm a goofball who likes to read and write. I graduated from Ohio State with a degree in Literature. When I'm watching TV it is either something funny or something history/science related. My musical tastes are all over the place and yet rarely found on the radio. What IS found on the radio, in my case at least, is NPR; I love me some Fresh Air and All Things Considered. I'm not a movie snob in the least but half of my favorites have subtitles, it's weird. What else... um, I think samurai are cooler than ninjas. Oh shit! My dorkness just slipped out there for a second, sorry about that. FYI, I'm 26, not 25-30.
Why are you here?
Why is anyone anywhere? Sometimes it's just nice to feel a sense of community and to be able to vent with like minded people about subjects in which you are the minority.
The religion you left
Was never a part of one
Why you left your religion.
My parents raised me on Carl Sagan's Cosmos and took me to museums instead of church. They never spoke either way about religion of any sort. Still, I suppose the first moment I realized that I wasn't religious was when I was seven. My evangelical grandfather was proselytizing to me and asked me, "Who made the sun?" I answered that the sun was just a star and it formed like other stars. Instead of asking me who made the gasses that the star condensed from, he instead began to laugh, turning to my mother and chuckling, "he thinks the sun is a star," as if I had told him that it was made out of apples and dildos. My mom looked embarrassed and told him with chagrin that the sun WAS, in fact, a star. I realized then that if a man who knew so much about scripture could know so little about the workings of nature and the universe then there was no reason for me to take his source of knowledge seriously. I was thinking about joining the Cult of Cthulhu for awhile but I can't stand calamari and the deep ocean freaks me out.

“God is Santa Clause for grown ups.” You’ve probably heard this before, it’s a fairly common quip used by atheists to illustrate their view on both the existence and purpose of a personal deity. It’s also a surefire way to get under the skin of most any theist. Is it fair though? Are we oversimplifying the punishment and reward aspects of the typical religious dogma we encounter? Are we just trying to make their beliefs out to be childish? After giving the subject a bit of thought recently, I… Continue

I agree Hicks was underrated as a comic. Let's face it he and Bruce were outspoken comics before their time. In fact a lot of their material wasn't funny to some because it was like an inside joke for those who got it!!!
I'll have to check out you clips today, I need a good laugh!
