I've been an OUT atheist for over 25 years, but grew up Lutheran and went into a slow slide of other denominations of Christianity during the last 5 years of my Christianity. The longer I remain an…Continue

Started this discussion. Last reply by Walenty.Lisek May 12, 2011. 8 Replies

I suspect that there are Fiscal Conservatives who may be atheistic, but while even that seems to be a stretch (if you know of any well-known ones, please name them), my REAL QUESTION is this: Are…Continue

"I know exactly what you mean.  I grew up in a non-denominational church.  I loved going to church on Sundays.  I had so many friends there.  It was such a good feeling of family.  I always felt safe there.  I miss…"

"I didn't really find a need for a church until I had kids - and living in the South the second question you're asked (after your name) is "What church do you go to?" I didn't want my kids to feel uncomfortable or ostracized,…"

"Depends on the congregation. If you look at my reply below, both of the congregations to which I belonged were predominately humanist. The UU congregations can vary wildly, taking on the personality of the majority of the members."

Rocky Oliver (LotusGeek) replied to James kelsey's discussion 'I miss the congretation of my church'
"I haven't read the responses to this post, but I have really enjoyed being a Unitarian Universalist for about 20 years now. I consider myself an atheist, a humanist, and a UU. I even taught RE (Religious Education, commonly referred to as…"

Stephen Walski replied to James kelsey's discussion 'I miss the congretation of my church'
"The bigger problem with UU and this may not apply to you but does indeed for me is that the Wiccan/Pagan nutjobs are, at least in the experiences i have had with UU, extremely prominent and vocal.    "

About Me:
I group up a Lutheran Christian, Moved to a few other denominations and ended up 'church of god' by the time I was 17.

By 20 I was able to say that I wasn't Christian.

By 22 I was able to say I was Atheist.

By 25 I was able to say I was an Atheist without having fear of hell run through my mind.

Since my early 30's I've been interested in the Taoist Philosophy (NOT to be confused with the religion some have carved out of it)

Now I'm 40-something, happy, positive... I'm an artist and a creative. I love life and think people are intrinsically good.
