Your Religious Status: Christian

About Me:: I am a Jesus follower and minister of a church in the North Dallas area. We are seeking to be like Jesus and feed the hungry, clothe the poor, and bless our community. We have no political activism through our church.

I seek to be loving, non-judgmental, and respectful of all viewpoints. I am nearing completion of a Doctor of Ministry degree; however, I also have a bit of a science background. I received a Biology degree and attended OU Medical school for a brief time before dropping out to go into ministry.

I have a great wife of 13 years and two beautiful daughters. My wife and I enjoy music and reading.

Why are you here?: In addition to preaching, my ministry and my Doctor of Ministry work involves reaching out to the community and sharing Jesus. I seek to understand culture, and am involved in various research projects on religious thinking in the US. I hope to better understand atheistic and agnostic thinking from being on this network. And I am open to friendships amongst all people, believing in our common humanity.

Would an atheist or an agnostic attend a Christian worship service if invited?

Hi guys. If you check out my profile you will see that I am a Jesus follower doing some research for my doctorate work on religious thinking in the US. This is my first time on an atheist site. If you can imagine being on a Christian site (I have a networking site called the Missional OUtreach Network), then perhaps you understand that I'm a bit nervous! :) I really am a nice guy!

i think you'll find that many atheists either aren't open about their atheism with their parents because of the stigma and so had to go with their family to church or, even if they are open about their atheism, they might have gone anyway because their parents asked them to as part of a family tradition.
i wasn't invited to church services by anyone, no. i was invited and attended an easter dinner and, earlier in the week, i was asked to attend a passover seder too. i couldn't make it to the seder. i "survived" easter, of course. before dinner today grace was said and i just waited quietly until they were done. hardly something that needed to be survived.
