GLEE: In Grilled Cheesus We Pray

(SPOILER: If anyone here watches Glee, and hasn’t had a chance to watch the latest episode, you might not want to read this just yet.)Alternate Title: Is There a ‘Wrong’ Reason to be an Atheist? So, I’ve finally gotten around to watching Glee, a musical show on Fox.It’s pretty great so far, even though I just jumped right into it only a couple of episodes ago and barely understand who the characters are.The latest episode was very interesting, and touched on a lot of issues, including atheism,…See More

Profile Information

Your Religious Status
Atheist, Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic
About Me:
I would describe myself as the thinking man's atheist; however, it seems to me that the majority of atheists are already very intellectual, so that seems almost bland.
I'm still easing into my atheism and, admittedly, am still mostly in the closet about this to my family. I am, however, rather vocal about my beliefs (or lack thereof) at my school.
Age
19-24
Why are you here?
I've been wanting to start a blog for some time, and this seems like a good place to start. I've been having discussions with my college's local Christian Apologetics club, which are always very fun and seem to be just begging to be written down.
I'm also here to share thoughts and debate points with fellow atheists and freethinkers, and for the support that comes with interacting with like-minded peoples.
The religion you left
Catholic
Why you left your religion.
While I had always tried to be knowledgeable about my religion (and still do), I was never all that religious to begin with (at least not compared to those around me).
There was a brief time when I had half-heartedly considered joining the the priesthood; however, I realize now the only thing I really ever wanted from it was the power and influence that went with the collar.

So, last weekend, I went to this giant conference in Anaheim, CA called RE Congress (http://www.recongress.org) It for Catholic Religious Educators. As I've said before, I still spend a good part of my time helping my mom out in the church, and this including going to conferences such as these.
To tell the truth, I had a great time. Of course, it was only a five day trip, with 1.5 days spent at the conference, 1.5 days spent sight seeing in and around…
