Yeah the Dawkin lecture at MSU was very cool. It was neat to be among so many unbelievers or at least open minded people. It made me feel that I wasn't so alone after all.
I had gone to the same church from birth to 20 years old so I had been friends with the people there for a very long time. Also, my church taught that being friends with people of other faiths or no faith at all was against god's wishes. So, I didn't have any other friends. Which also means now those people really aren't supposed to talk to me unless it is to witness or say that they are praying for me.
Have you heard about the Darwin Day group that is going to be starting a book club and planing other evens? It is based here in Ann Arbor which I know is a bit of a drive, but I thought that I would let you know about it in case you weren't aware of it. Here is the homepage for you to do some more research if you are interested. http://annarbordarwinday.org/Home_Page.php
If you have heard of other activities happening on this side of the state let me know. I am really looking into getting involved with atheist community here in Michigan.
Thanks for writing back. It is so nice to hear from people that aren't trying to scare me with hell.
