I'm a woman who has recently reached the half-century mark with a sense that I have experienced enough in the arena of faith to know that it's not for me. I am in the medical field, a former paramedic and I spend much of my free time performing and writing music. I find the fact of our existence to be much more precious, much more fragile, and much more wondrous because we were not created and protected by a deity. The extreme set of circumstances that led to us highly improbable humans and all other living creatures on this equally improbable planet just takes my breath away.
Why are you here?
To be able to communicate with people who just make sense to me.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I guess I never really believed it. I grew up in a mostly secular home and went to a very fundamentalist christian church for a year or two in high school. I quickly saw the hypocrisy of the congregation, but still sought a purer relationship with god outside of a church. I pondered it for many years until I realized that I just don't believe in a divine entity of any kind.
