"No, no. I'm spot on. The rectum is a temporary storage site for crap which, upon being filled, stimulates a powerful reflex to expel said load of crap. You know. The source of Bob's many unattributed claims."

"It doesn't matter. At the rate the irreligious are growing, with any luck, you Catholics and your Protestant brethren alike really will be a tiny fraction within a few decades. Problem solved. "

Gallup's Mirror replied to Belle Rose's discussion 'I'm confused about morality'
"Exactly. It's just like saying there's scant evidence for a historical Zeus, because all of the evidence for Zeus was written or preserved by the Greeks. Serious scholars would laugh you out of the room. "

"No. Different groups have or use different symbols. Some are widely recognized. Others, not so much. There is no formal flag or symbol for atheists. "

Everything Sex - NSFW

This group is meant for open, candid sex talk and related topics. It is meant to be a place where everybody can explore and learn something new about sex. Anything goes....(that abides by Think Atheist Rules/Guidelines) lolThat being said, I do hope people will be brave and creative enough to push the limits without going over them, and find ways to explore this topic creatively, humorously, and with a huge amount of…See More

Why you left your religion.
This describes my atheism: God is unproved, not disproved.

Crackpot: God exists!
Me: Evidence, please.
Crackpot: There is none.
Me: I don't believe you.

That's it. That's all it is. The rest is just the crackpot employing some bit of dishonesty to obfuscate or deny it.

He'll shift the burden of evidence onto me. ("Prove God doesn't exist!").
He'll claim to have evidence when he does not. ("Lookee here! Purely abstract mathematics! That's evidence!").
He'll say he doesn't need evidence. ("God is too big for evidence!")
He'll completely ignore the request for evidence and won't respond at all. (This is very popular.)
He'll restate the request for evidence as an accusation or insult. ("You hate God!" "How dare you question my faith!")
He'll pin God to ignorance. ("You can't explain X so God is the only explanation!")
And on and on and on. Anything but evidence.

There is no case to be made for the existence of God. There is nothing to debate, nothing to consider: no evidence, no data, not a shred of the scientific whatsoever. The rest is just the outraged caterwauling of the crackpot, desperately insisting that any such "debate" over God exists at all.

That is why I am an atheist.

2016 Presidential Election: Who do you think will run?

Posted on February 26, 2014 at 7:30pm 18 Comments

The New York Times published the results of a poll today in which 64% of all American adults said they would like to see Hillary Clinton run for President in 2016. Among independent voters, 52% would like to see Clinton run. These percentages are nearly double those for the most-preferred Republicans; Ron Paul, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie. Clinton…

Happy March Equinox

Posted on March 20, 2013 at 12:00am 2 Comments

Today, March 20, 2013, the day and night will be of equal length, an event which is the Vernal Equinox in the northern hemisphere and the Autumnal Equinox in the southern hemisphere. For some reason, Christians like to celebrate this as the time Jesus rose from the dead, hungering for the flesh of the living, and longing to paint chicken eggs with vinegar dye. Or something like that. Anyway, enjoy it. It only happens twice every year. The equinox I mean, not the zombie…
