It is my opinion that religion serves as a method of belief categorization. I could provide a lofty explanation with loads of detailed personal experiences here, but I wont for brevity's sake. In…Continue

About Me:
I am studying Biochemistry and Molecular biology at Mercer University with intent on studying biological engineering for my graduate degree. I spend a very large portion of my time keeping literate on science articles, discoveries, and lectures. The knowledge that I gain from my sources allows me to retain a very formidable opinion against those who are scientifically illiterate. As a scientist, I question everything. This aspect of my personality was furthered by my Jewish upbringing, which taught me not to trust every source of knowledge... and thus I became skeptical of my belief system. Currently I am Agnostic, since I believe that there is a force that is beyond the realm of human perception. Most people, however, consider me to be an athiest since I do not believe in a conscious, omnipresent life force that carefully plotted the structure of the universe and gave it a predisposed destination or course. If you have made it this far into my blog, you can probably already tell that I enjoy philosophy and revel in a good debate. Since my fraternity doesn't provide much stimulus for this type of conversation (since it is founded on the "ideals of Christian manhood"), I have sought elsewhere to satisfy my needs. I use the shit out of Facebook, so add me there if you really want to get to know me.

Why are you here?
I need to find sober-minded people. Lately I have realized that Christians have the tendency to make me sick to my stomach. I can only tolerate so much before the intellectual pressure inside of my head begins to cause my mouth to seep and my eyes to pop out of my head.
The religion you left
Judaism
Why you left your religion.
The Church is contradictory. I have better things to do than sit around in some lavish sanctuary filled to the brim with people attempting to morally rectify myself through 2,000 year old campfire tales. Never once have I spoken to God or heard from him. Never once have I felt like studying the Bible was a productive way to spend my time. I don't think that the holy spirit exists; I've personally witnessed "possessions" at pentecostal churches and all that I have ascertained from their behavior is that they escape to church once a week in order to act like highly caffeinated monkeys. If there is a God that behaves in a similar manner to the Judeo-Christian God, I don't think modern society would be so peaceful. Strip clubs would randomly explode. Gang members would drop dead in their tracks. Flaming sulfur would rain from the sky. The list goes on and I don't buy any of it.
