I have grown tired of the air of smug superiority with which the religious claim dominance over our culture - and more and more, over our government.

Why you left your religion.

Discussions with others of different faiths led me to ask questions and really think about what I believed and why, which led to the realization of the many internal contradictions and contradictions with observable reality in Bible. Further research into the history of the Bible reinforced my growing realization that all religion is man-made. Further research into science, specifically evolution, made me realize that humans are hard-wired for faith, and logic led to the realization that such hard-wiring doesn't make our beliefs truth.
