Like most children I was quite inquisitive very early on. The topic of religion and god came up a lot with my grandmothers who were both highly religious. You could imagine what I was up against, plus we lived in Spain with a high catholic population. Luckily for me I never converted, but it’s been a tough battle.
I now see myself in my son’s eyes, and love this stage of curiosity. My youngest boy loves dinosaurs, science, space, and is very inquisitive. I simply want to make sure that I prepare him with the evidence and scientific resources, but not indoctrinate him. I’m an atheist, but I honestly feel that people respond a lot better to a secular humanist label, especially when given the opportunity to explain your views.
