I was raised in an Episcopal church, and my parents even made me go through confirmation. But even as a child, the concept never made any sense to me. Nor could I see that anyone could explain the concept adequately, which made me realize that no one understood it. Which wasn't surprising...if an all-knowing, all-powerful god existed in a realm above and beyond the natural world, I couldn't see how anyone could understand that god or his purpose. It would be, by definition, beyond our comprehension.
