Dennis Smith replied to Kelsey Hayes's discussion 'Anyone out there?'
"Personally, I would encourage you to wait. However, how are you managing college? Are your parents helping pay for college? If so, there might still be an issue. As many in The Clergy Project have found, the consequences of "coming out"…"

"The excuse or answer you will receive when you press these passage is "God's ways are higher than our ways, and his thoughts higher than our thoughts". Or that God's ways are mysterious and he can, of course, do anything so no…"

Dennis Smith commented on Kayla T's blog post 'I Am Going To Read The Bible'
"I think this is laudable. There are certainly some parts you can skim, like the genealogies. However, to be more familiar with it will enable you to present a more balanced perspective. Most Christians cherry pick the Bible focusing on the…"

Dennis Smith replied to Matt the Christian's discussion 'Religious experience?'
"I do thankfully. The children are not as fundamentalist as their mother and my son is an atheist as I am and a student of philosophy. He is going to University of Houston for an MA and is on a PhD track. The kids and I are close. They too question…"

Dennis Smith replied to Bobby Havicon's discussion 'Another Defense of Christianity'
"It would all be speculation. What did people nearly 2000 years ago do or think or how were they motivated when you have nothing in any historical record other than the NT? How do you go about determining what they REALLY believed if it was different…"

"Here is a longish, rather detailed account of my transition. http://agnosticpastor.wordpress.com/guest-writers/dennis-smith-going-going-going-gone/ It was a difficult transition. There are 200+ members of The Clergy Project who have gone throught…"
