- I was raised as a Faithist studying Oahspe. I have read the bible and Oahspe, but the truth about our existence on Earth is answered by science, not by earlier civilizations who were trying to answer these questions without the help of today's scientific study. The purpose of religion today is to provide social control for those in political power, moral control for social order, and solace for those who are upset by the truth.
