About Me:
I'm a drummer, comedian, and Atheist who is standing up for the cause. As a child, I was forced to pray before lunch at school, and would receive beatings if I did not conform. I was also punished for being left-handed. They said this made me "the tool of the devil."
Why are you here?
I want a place where I can blog specifically about Atheism and nothing else. I'm interested in setting the record straight about Atheist fallacies, thoughts, and practices.
The religion you left
Was never a part of one
Why you left your religion.
I did not leave a religion, but did leave a religious part of the world (the Midwest). The lack of intelligence, combined with blind faith, became unbearable.

Talking About Atheism - An Experience

Posted on April 7, 2009 at 12:00pm 3 Comments

Just over 23 years ago, I left my little Midwest town to head for the west coast. Everywhere I looked, it was "god this," and "jesus that," and always a sprinkle of hell, fire, brimstone and eternal damnation. The negativity weighed heavily upon me, to the point that I'd feel great depression and despair. When I left, I figured that I'd never encounter any of these people again.

Audio Book Review: "Letting Go of God" by Julia Sweeney

Posted on February 14, 2009 at 12:10pm 0 Comments

I saw this CD set at a book store a while back for over $20. It caught my eye, but didn't seem like it would be worth the price. But when I saw it for way cheaper on iTunes, I decided to give it a go.

Sweeney's background is typical is some ways. She was given a very strong religious upbringing. Although she sees the hypocrisy behind the rules of her faith as a child, she still believes in god. This illustrates the mental pounding her parents gave her, in an effort to "instill… Continue

Proof That God Is A... WOMAN!

Are you old enough to remember this?

There was a time when TV just shut down for the night. Johnny Carson was on for about 90 minutes, followed by Tom Snyder, then some horrible programming like "Dance Fever." Eventually, there would be something with a title like "Moment of Inspiration." This was a preacher delivering a message for a few minutes. This was followed by The Star Spangled Banner and white noise for a few hours.

PSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" The sound would… Continue

I'm Catholic Because...

Posted on February 12, 2009 at 3:28pm 0 Comments

The religious history in my family is simple. Grandpa was a Protestant, while grandma was a Catholic. When they wanted to get married, neither church would recognize the marriage. Grandma noticed that there were church-sanctioned marriages in her circles, where the husband would beat the wife. There were cases of infidelity, alcoholism, and other maladies. But it's a-okay, because they're both Catholic.

They flipped their collective birds at their respective institutions anyway and… Continue
