Because religion in general is destroying lives (not that it ever didn't), promoting fascist, dictatorial ideas in the U.S. and violating everyone's civil rights. The only appropriate weapon seems to be education. Knowledge cures religion.
Why you left your religion.
It simply became undeniably obvious that what religions preach is incompatible with what reality demonstrates.

I think you will enjoy this group. The people and ideas are very diverse. I have a group on cycling you might want to join. There are also groups on Vegan and Vegetarin diets as well as meat lover atheists. Gives us some one to debate with. I look forward to seeing what you will contribute to the disscussions Dennis.
