- Hi Crabapple, I guess the fact that I came out as gay later in my life had a lot to do with my becoming an atheist. I questioned a god who would put me on earth to be reviled and hated by most of his followers. I came to the conclusion that the concept of god was silly, and the worship of him even sillier.
