Contrary to popular belief...the phrase "In god we trust" has not always been on our paper currency. True it has appeared on coins since the mid-1800s, but it was not officially adopted until 1957. Nor did it appear on ANY paper currency until then. The motto was adopted in 1957 to directly oppose the "Atheist Communists of Russia." That's it. They were "atheist" so we had to be DEVOUTLY christian. Now to get to my point. HOW IN THE HELL IS THIS LEGAL OR STILL IN PLACE?The constitution, which is…Continue

What is the god gene?Well, the god gene hypothesis proposes that a specific gene (vesicular mono amine transporter 2) predisposes humans towards spiritual or mystic experiences. My question is do you think this can be the answer to WHY people are religious? I strongly believe it is.Please tell me why you think people are religious, or feel inclined to believe in something supernatural.Continue

I got an email on facebook recently from some christian who asked the question"If you're such an atheist, how come you celebrate christmas? It's a christian holiday, so you shouldn't celebrate it."Well for one, I am pretty sure that the origin of christmas is NOT christian. Pretty pagan actually. It's awful christians actually believe the entire holiday of christmas is purely christian. The christians may have popularized the holiday...but it is DEFINITELY NOT a christian concept..All that…Continue

How are we supposed to instill a sense of care and love for Earth, when most people that live on it believe their "ultimate" reward lies elsewhere?Continue

In a sense, I know that we should respect everybody, but do we really just need to keep quiet when crazy religious people preach and yell and affect law? I personally don't think so. Maybe I am too closed minded, but I think the more vocal the atheist community becomes and LESS vocal the religious community can be the world would be better off...Faith is not based in fact, as everybody knows. So why not publicly denounce all faiths as ignorant and detrimental. Does anybody else have any…Continue

...I think I was born a nihilist. Of course, the public image of a nihilist is a ridiculous stereotype: rebel without a cause, mad bomber, etc. I am a rebel only in my mind, and I have never purposely injured anyone. In my daily life I lead a quiet existence and conform to most of the idiotic expectations of my fellow man. As one sociologist observed, mores develop a life of their own. Few people actually agree with them, but each person thinks that everyone else does.…

I've been reading a lot of nonsense recently about how "christians are persecuted, and everybody hates my religion," blah, blah, blah. Well I beg to differ on those statements greatly! Christians have it better than ANY specific group of people in the USA. They have power over 2 billion people. control governments throughout the world. my anger isn't specifically towards the christians but since i live in America they are a major thorn in my side.
Being an Atheist, on the…

Well, I am feeling particularly atheist today, so i wanted to give an argument to any theists (christians) who always say,
“Albert Einstein believed in God. Do you think you’re more clever than him?”
Hmmm..“Albert Einstein believed in God. Do you think you’re more clever than him?”
Einstein did once comment that “God does not play dice [with the universe].” This quotation is commonly mentioned to show that Einstein believed in the Christian God. Used this way, it is out…
