"@Peter Whitely I disagree with you about the hymns. The lyrics might not make the most sense, but in my opinion, church and religious music (especially more traditional Christmas carols) are very beautiful."
"I went to public school in a very Catholic region in Spain, and you wouldn't believe the crap they teach. I very vividly remember my third year teacher telling a Muslim student that she was going to hell for her beliefs.

"That's rude of her and I don't blame you in the slightest. I'd have done the same thing.
Once, while I was in the US, I saw a sign in front of a church that said 'God has a picture of you on his refrigerator'. Sometimes…"
"I like this idea quite a bit; as a Catholic, I also celebrate the Jesus bit, but I enjoy the various pagan traditions and general holiday spirit just as much, if not more, than the religious aspect.

"I won't be much help on this, but as long as you stay friendly and respectful of their beliefs and don't outright attack them, I think it should go smoothly. It would help, also, if you pointed out the strong points of atheism instead (or…"

I was just thinking about how being Atheist at times isn't all that exciting. Although I have to say that it does allow for a great appreciation of how amazing life is from a different point of view. Makes me wonder about the myriads of planets that we will never get to see.
