I can honestly say I haven't heard this one before. I have heard its total BS, that it's the work of the devil, that it is wrong to varying degrees, that it's God's will and other things but never…Continue

Is it wrong to agree, even if that is dishonest

Started this discussion. Last reply by Michael R Moore Oct 20, 2011. 7 Replies

Some minds simply can not be argued with or made to see reason, we all know this too well. I admit that sometimes when I encounter a person like I don't come right out and agree but make it seem so…Continue

Is it wrong to divorce a partner with Alzheimer's?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Boatman Sep 16, 2011. 18 Replies

As most of us already know Pat Robertson is an a** and in this video he suggests that it's ok for a man to divorce his wife who is so far gone into Alzheimer's that she doesn't even know him…Continue

About Me:
I don't define myself by any specific philosophy because I think labels lead to dogmatism but the closest system to my own is Secular Humanism.
Personally, I am a 35 year old security officer for Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario with a passion for learning.
Why are you here?
Always good to be in the company of like minded thinkers

Christian, Buddhism
Why you left your religion.
Reading! Pure and simple it started with a college project on optimism. A paper by Max More suggested religion undermines productive optimism and the more I researched the further from religion I got!

Guilty verdict for ‘honor killings’

Posted on January 30, 2012 at 5:57am 1 Comment

Much to my excitement a dark and primitive concept was shown to be intolerable  in Canada today as all members Shafia family are found guilty of first degree murder. Hamed Shafia, his second wife Tooba Mohammad Yahya, 42, and their eldest son, Hamed, 21 were arrested in July of 2011 for the murder of Hamed Shafia’s three daughters…

Psychic Sally Morgan is afraid and should be

In September of last year magician Paul Zenon wrote an article for the daily Mail in which he exposed Sally Morgan. It was widely read and so fraudster Morgan is so upset she is suing (more details). She has a right to be upset, Zenon correctly pointed to the usual bag of…

Religion would not survive life on other planets

Posted on January 15, 2012 at 3:30am 0 Comments

There are billions of planets even in our own galaxy, and millions of galaxies in the universe. Discovering other inhabitable planets and possibly extraterrestrial life is inevitable , it’s simply a question of when. Hi Bryan, thanks for the add. Very interested to see your reason for leaving religion was reading. Perhaps the fundies are right to be scared of science being taught, and this is why they are constantly trying to teach religion disguised as science. Knowledge seems to be the enemy of religion.
