"Not necessarily.  For example, the study I linked to earlier wasn't studying the effects of prayer so much as the effects of the patient knowing they were being prayed for.  That is a legitimate psychological phenomena.…"

"By the way, my favorite line of the article:   "The experiments showed that a simple "Thy will be done" approach was quantitatively more powerful than when specific results were held in mind." No shit!"

"The key is in the (sorry for the unnecessarily big word) operationalization of the stories. The author clearly had a vested interest in this article showing the sucess of prayer so he / she worded each story to imply something that isnt really…"

"Kir, Here are some.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studies_on_intercessory_prayer These, and others, have already been scrutinized- with a little searching you won't have to recreate the wheel."

"Yes! Thats where I remember reading it! I couldn't put my finger on where I herd that. In The God Delusion there was a nice study done that had 3 hospitals (same amount of patients with the same illness and same stage) and 3 churches (all 6…"

"Hey Brian,   Sorry, one more point. I just checked out that link. There's a saying that goes something like, "show me the data". And that is relevant here. It would be most effective to get the study itself and start…"

"Hey Dave,   I think this (your) is the line of questioning that will be most effective. If you read most of these posts here you can see that there are a lot of smart people here. But this level of abstraction, and focus on more general…"

Kir Komrik replied to Brian's discussion 'Power of Prayer'
"Hey Brian,   As a practical matter, I think the most effective argument for an adherent will be to attack the specific claim made; that is, the studies quoted. If you get into debates about other studies, or generic objections such as you…"

Kir Komrik replied to Brian's discussion 'Power of Prayer'
"Hey Brian,   If I can be so cocky, get a copy of these studies, pass me the methodology and I'll rip it up. You need to attack these studies if they really exist because I think there is an avalanche of studies on prayer that show that it…"

For the videos, if you go back to the beginnings, page 172 or so on the video section, Morgan added a whole bunch of good ones that are now basically buried. I'm a fan of CDK007 but there are so many good ones out there.
