Went to Andrews, TX, to counter-protest the WBC, ended up getting run out of town.

So the Gay- Straight Alliance at the university around here organized a counter protest, because the WBC was going to protest the funeral of a soldier who had died in combat from there. We had a conglomeration of signs, one had FSM <3 gays on it, another had God hates figs, and so on. Mine had a quote about bigotry from Jefferson. We went there with the best of intentions. I went with my mother to her bank so she could get a safety deposit box, one I was given acccess to as well, so my presence was required. She began to speak to the bank employee about how happy she was to get one so she could keep her jewelry safe. She then pulled out her gold Virgin Mary necklace to show him, because it's very important to her. We have freedom of religion here in America, no one knows that better than us. However, my brain, which is constantly going through thoughts came up with something I felt I needed to ask here. There's a group out there that I was active with when I was a fundie called Voice of the Martyrs. I remember loving reading the stories and hearing of the testimonies of the people who were persecuted and killed for Christ and even wishing I was secure enough in my faith to do something like that.
