- I was raised religiously, but stopped believing in God when I was ten. Since my God was known as 'the Most Merciful', I couldn't believe that He would throw anyone in Hell.
Hell was a terrible place from all that I studied and I would have never thrown anyone in it. God had to be more merciful than me.
Last Ramadhan I made a last ditch effort to salvage the broken remainders of a faith that still breathed faintly despite the work of my psychology to erase it.
I prayed each time I broke my fast for God to help me become a better Muslim, and I figured that if He was real, I would.
In the time since then I have had a series of chancy events that led to epiphanies about the state of God. At first I didn't imagine the Muslim version of God, I conceptualized an ultimate consciousness, but I returned to Islam in my exploration of those concepts that were perfectly explained in the Qur'an.
I believe that there is an ultimate being, known to us as God, or Yahweh, or Allah, or whatever lingually-developed label that human beings use to describe what they can't truly understand.
And, I believe that the correct way to live my life is to submit my will to the divine command of that ultimate being.
