I am 6'1", 18 years old and I live in New Delhi, India. I am a first year computer engineering student in Manipal . I love reading, debating and hosting events and adventure sports. I come from a family of firm theists but my family has never opposed my views, even though they vehemently disagree. One day i want to be a speaker who convinces theists to see the light (lol).
My dream is to have a debate with a priest or bishop and counter every argument he makes about theism.
Why are you here?
It was reading that got me thinking about how my religion had oppressed many other faiths to gain dominance, and how even today it was suppressing anyone and everyone who had a different view. As an Indian I have seen my country torn apart due to religion. Even today 60 years later, India is at a permanent state of alert, hostilities can increase at any given time. Terrorist attacks have become a given for us at any point of time. I know, that its not religion but politics in religion that is the root cause of this problem, but somehow deep down i feel that religion is promoting differences in our world. In a world already divided by caste, creed and race...why do we need another one??
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
My religion has been responsible for 3 crusades and countless number of wars since its inception. It has slaughtered entire cities to stay in power and wealth, while preaching peace and non-violence. The Pope was one of the most powerful people in Europe during the 1800s, and it wasn't just by doing good.
I am sick and tired of understanding how a man can walk on water, and of every excuse made by believers to explain everything that happens in my life....there is no phrase I hate more than "It is written".
I wanted to explore a world more vast than the narrow minded one I was born in....so I left.
