Ash Pryce replied to Dan's discussion 'What do young earth creationists say about radiocarbon dating?'
"They say it's flawed and mistaken.  They say fossils are a result of the Flood and that stars only appear further away because Goddidit."

Ash Pryce replied to Eric Allen's discussion 'absolute certainty and being an atheist.'
"I am an agnostic atheist.  One deals with knowledge one with the belief position.  I do not know for certainty there is no god so I am an agnostic.  I do not however believe there is a god so i am an atheist.  When asked what I…"

Ash Pryce replied to Rich's discussion 'Who says the world is only 6000 years old?'
"It comes from starting with the birth of Jesus as a beginning point.  They then add up the ages of the characters given in the bible as most characters lineage and ages are given.  They then move backward from Year 0 (or 1BC /Ad if you…"

Zeitgeist (2007) - Part 1 - Religion

"My repsonse to Dr. Jesus that Mostafa has not included: " Dr Jesus I’m not arguing that Jesus was or was not a real person, nor am I saying he didn’t share attributes with other deities- he did, and I even point that out when it is…"

Zeitgeist (2007) - Part 1 - Religion

"Strong parallels, at best minor coincidences shared by many hero stories.  That the Jesus story was embellished?  Yeah, sure.  But it is certianly unique in many regards. "

Zeitgeist (2007) - Part 1 - Religion

"Mostafa.  Sorry but I disagreed with Dr. Jesus' response as did others.  And I still do.  Zeitgeist is wrong and is poorly researched.  Why is it okay for something to be poorly researched and wrong as long as it supports…"

Zeitgeist (2007) - Part 1 - Religion

"For crying out loud.  There are enough sources online to refute this, there are plenty of books on mythology in your library that can help.  Here's an online rebuttal (complete with VERY extensive source links):…"

Ash Pryce replied to erik112358's discussion 'Kid has no train ticket, then gets thrown off by passenger'
"Well this will be solved in the law courts- the Big man has been charged with assault."

Ash Pryce replied to erik112358's discussion 'Kid has no train ticket, then gets thrown off by passenger'
"The press here have been running with this.  The chap thrown off insists he had a ticket but it was printed with the wrong way- I've actually had that myself but fortuantely noticed the mistake before trying to use the ticket. …"

Ash Pryce replied to Rich's discussion 'Burying the dead atheist.... how does it work?'
"My partners mother died 2 years ago and she wasn't religious or a believer in any way so we opted for a Humanist ceremony.  It had to be held in the chapel simply because it was connected to the crematorium but all symbols that were even…"

Ash Pryce replied to Aiken Drums Sister's discussion 'What to do when the family is godly?'
""I think you over simplify the significance of theism throughout history. Calling it "bullshit" is a bit pretentious, don't you think?"Havign historical significance doesn't mean it can't also be bullshit. "

Ash Pryce commented on Robert Ray's blog post 'Celebrate His Birth December 25th'
"Robert Karp, that's a myth.  There is nothing to say that Mithras was born on December 25th.  Zeitgeist is bollocks of the highest order."

Ash Pryce replied to Samuel Purkiss's discussion 'Religious food in the cafeteria'
"Halal doesn't mean it's middle eastern, it just means it's prepared (Slaughtered) in a particular way.  A McDonalds burger could be Halal and you wouldn't call that Middle Eastern! :)"
Dec 13, 2011
Ash Pryce replied to Samuel Purkiss's discussion 'Religious food in the cafeteria'
"My issue is that animals slaughtered under Halal principles aren't slaughtered in the same way as other animals.  Whereas some people may see the way in which animals are killed barbaric anyway, at least with regular killing the animals…"

Ash Pryce replied to Amy L. Cook's discussion 'Are Atheists strangely attached to nativity scenes?'

Ash Pryce replied to Rocky Oliver (LotusGeek)'s discussion 'What xian/religious sayings get on your nerves?'
"Not to be too pedantic, but the Christmas Tree *as we know it today* does probably have more in common with 16/17th century Christianity than Paganism directly.  though the tree and evergreens were an important part of various practices before…"

Why are you here?
Such a deep quesiton. I'm here mainly for the cookies and milk. Also, having followed for a while I quite like the community here.
The religion you left
Christian
Why you left your religion.
I was only part of a religion in as far as I believed in god and had been Christened into Methodist. The religion aspect wasn't an interest and the idea of a god seemed so unlikely.
