"If you become joined to such an extent that they are dependent on you, then it is very likely that you will be dependent on them. Disconnecting them may well endanger your life as much as theirs. That is the reason I said the analogy was flawed.
Grew up in a household very involved in the church. Sung in the choir, Bellringer, Youth groups etc... even wanted to be a minister which involved more in depth reading of the bible. I am now an atheist.

Doubts about the outright cruelty in the bible. Many people tried to defend it and say it was all part of god's plan etc... Even if god exists, his actions make me feel like I would be on the wrong side if I followed him.
