CAN WE BEAT A CATHOLIC COLLEGE IN CROATIA?!

Posted on May 7, 2012 at 10:30am 0 Comments

So I see a post on the Facebook wall of the Freethought Film Festival Foundation from Open Air Cinema, inviting us to join their contest to win an outoor movie system for our organization. I've always envisioned to some day be able to do a tour of freethought films with free outdoor screenings in various cities. Local secular groups often invite me to present, and it would be such a fun way to expand the reach of freethought films. The contest registration was easy…

Automated Morality Reminder for the Tampa Bay Christian Majority

Posted on January 28, 2011 at 12:09am 0 Comments

I received an automated phone message today from the mayor's office  of Tampa, reminding the good citizens of Tampa Bay to "behave responsibly" at Gasparilla. I'm stunned! (Despite this, I am still able to type.)

I can't believe that government dollars were spent on this! In the context of TA, why the fuck would they even need to send messages in the first place!? This is a Christian nation, right? What's the percentage of…

I'm a musician, and I'm currently in the studio recording my original songs. I need a female singer to lay down vocals on 7 of them.

Visit this page http://www.myspace.com/thevov for more info and a live video of one of the songs.

If you don't sing, but know someone that does, please forward them the link?  :-)

Thanks!

It's not as suppressed as it once was, but it ain't Las Vegas either!

Tarantino was definitely an influence on our project, though with a touch more overt humor thrown in - and the philosophy deals with some of the bigger issues, like the nature of death, the existence of god(s), free will vs. determinism, that sort of thing.

We have several other project ideas we're throwing around, a few of which would be films rather than web-series. Should we do a film, we would aim for the film festival circuit and your festival sounds like a good fit. One of the guys in our 3-man production team lives in Brooksville. I'm currently in Greenville, SC (Home of Bob Jones University. YIKES!) and will be moving to South Bend, IN for a few months, but there's a chance I could be down in Florida around the time of this year's festival. I'll keep you posted.

Wow. A fellow atheist in my hometown of Brandon, Florida. Not easy being a free-thinker in the state that has been referred to as "The Bible-Belt with mouse ears." One of the reasons I moved. :)

I am also, along with the other 2 guys in St. Jake Productions, a filmmaker. Our first, official project is season 1 of a web-series entitled "A Conversation While...", for which I am co-writer, co-star, and music supervisor/composer. It's about 2 crooks who have intense philosophical discussions in the midst of committing their crimes - imagine the gravedigger scene from Hamlet if directed by Tarantino or the Coen Bros.

We are in post-production now and won't be launching until January, but we'll be releasing a series of teaser trailers throughout December. I think the subject matter will be right up your alley. I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, I'm gonna check out more info on your film festival. Sounds fantastic.

Cheers,
Kevin
