- I'm an atheist, a gender equalist and a Scouser so I'm always bound to offend someone whatever the social situation. It's an interesting way to live your life!

- Why you left your religion.
- Really, I just grew out of it. My Catholic primary school did push religion in the usual ways - frequent 'class masses', the usual celebration of rituals and holidays, prayers in the classroom - but it never seemed to penetrate. You just accepted that you were a Catholic, and so was everyone else so there wasn't any discord. I suppose that when I left that school, saw the wider world, and started to think a bit more, it just didn't make sense. Whereas previously I'd literally never given any thought to the veracity of Jesus and the Bible, as soon as I did I became an agnostic. Disillusionment with the Church and working out just how much the Bible doesn't make sense came along much later.
