I like food. Tasty tasty food. Beyond that, I guess the crux of my atheism stemmed initially from the abject suffering and poverty that goes on everyday on a global scale. It struck me that the amount of eternal joy in an imaginary locale of perfection required to make up for 2 billion people living on the equivalent $2 a day would be astounding. Not to mention, if they were to be raptured and taken to heaven, what purpose would all that suffering serve when it has no context in heaven, because of heaven's supposed perfection and lack of evil. Why experience evil/suffering when it has no use in heaven since god has willed away all evil there? And of course that led to having to reconcile predestination with free will; if god is omniscient and already has a plan that we are all a part of, then free will, the greatest gift given to humanity by god supposedly, is illusory. That was the tipping point, and so here I am.
