What part did they change to "under god"? seems to me, anyone who says under god instead of any part of this is just plain unpatriotic.
If I am understanding your question correctly, nothing was changed. "Under God" was added after the word "nation" in 1954.
It is utterly appalling to me that theocrats (and religious nuts) changed the Pledge and made In God We Trust the national motto in the 50's.
The First Amendment is 2 distinct parts with different applications - the first part is the establishment clause designed to prevent a theocracy - "Congress shall make NO law respecting the establishment of religion..." The theocrats in Congress, then and now, seem incapable of understanding the meaning of NO. To me, the use of the word "god," contrary to the Supreme Court's opinions (rendered by Christians, like Scalia), clearly favors religion over non-religion and a monotheistic/deistic god over polytheism or non-theism.
In God We Trust is plastered on public buildings in DC (including Congress) and is now being pushed to be plastered all over all public buildings around the nation
The Christian theocracy in our secular nation must stop.
Mabel.. Correct.. "..under God" was added in the 50's. That's also when "In God We Trust" became our official motto over "E pluribus unum" (One from many). We can thank McCarthyism for both those changes..
1943? It could have been from 1955 and read the same.
