Yeah, me too!  If ever there was proof that there is no god, it's that Carlin is dead and Jerry Falwell hasn't had a heart attack yet ;)

Sophie,

When my wife and I were married about 15 years ago we decided to have the ceremony at Las Vegas on Valentine's Day. We stayed at Bally's Casino on the strip and was thrilled to learn that George was the headliner there at Bally's.  I knew we were in for a treat when the first joke of his show was a slam against  anti-abortion Catholic women. I won't go into the joke.

George was insightful and profound. The first comedy album I ever bought, back in the seventies, was an LP entitled "Class Clown" by Carlin. It's a classic.

The good news is this particular proof happens to fail.

Jerry Falwell is quite thoroughly dead.  He kicked the bucket (it must have been full of really foul-smelling shit) on 15 May 2007.  I remember Hitchens talking smack about Falwell on Sean Hannity's show immediately afterwards and Hannity trying to chew his ass for speaking ill of the dead.  Hitchens simply reiterated that Falwell was an evil man, and I could almost hear the veins in Hannity's forehead threatening to burst.

George Carlin outlived Falwell just over a year, dying on 22 June 2008.

“Tell people there’s an invisible man in the sky who created the universe, and the vast majority believe you. Tell them the paint is wet, and they have to touch it to be sure.”
-- George Carlin --

"Religion has actually convinced people that there`s an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do..And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever, `til the end of time! ...But He loves you!"
-- George Carlin --

"More people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason."
-- George Carlin --

Don't forget one of my favorite Carlin quotes of all time:

"My God has a bigger dick then YOUR God!" --George Carlin
