Women vs.Allah

The Quaran, that handbook for slavemasters of females, kneels meek before the very physical source of femininity...

I find it funny a believer would come to an atheist website, defend their religion and then is shocked at some of the reactions he gets.

@Bryan B - this is just what they do - they all say "Oh, I just want to learn" - they are so brainwashed, and never read the replies. I am amazed at how civilized Atheists are when these interlopers are shocked, and call us immoral blahday blah - but it is a good reminder of what Atheists are up against - brainwashed, indoctrinated and fearful - a very sad combination, but truly horrific for women.

Sorry about the delay in replying. I'm have read all the replies unlike some people are assuming and I feel it's partially the fault of the Muslims themselves for not making and preaching the clear difference between cultures and religion. Some of you are saying that Islam allows rape and only the women is punished; this is a cultural thing. In an Islamic state, the rapist would be punished; by being whipped 80 times+ the judges penalty OR by being stoned to death depending on whether he's married or not. There are cases where young girls are punished in the name of religion for the helplessness which I agree is totally unfair, but you have to realize that this is not implementing the religion at all.

Also, the issue of female mutilation; Islam only propagates and encourages male circumcision. Female circumcision is entirely based on what the woman wants herself; in unsafe, unhygienic conditions, it is absolutely impermissible!

AS for the issue of forcing women to wear a niqab (face veil), in western countries, most women do it of their own choice. For example my sister, she chose to wear it for a long while but stopped wearing it 3 years ago. No one has beaten her or scolded her etc. It's her choice. I can safely say that most of the women that I know that wear this veil wear it on their own accord. I cannot comment on middle eastern countries.

@Saanwal Noor

Disrespect for women is, unfortunately, present in just about every society on earth. The difference is that in many Islamic societies, it's institutional.

For example, in the very cradle of Islam, Saudi Arabia, women are disrespected institutionally. E.g., there is no "driving age" in SA. Rather, if a boy can hold the wheel and reach the pedals, he's legal to drive. A grown woman doesn't even have the right to drive under any circumstances whereas a very young boy can.

In September 2011, King Abdullah gave women the right to vote and run in the next round of municipal elections, which isn’t expected until 2015. Municipal elections. Whoopee! What's wrong with voting in national elections? The answer is probably that women might vote en masse to make their subjugation and oppression illegal!

Even Ayatolla-run Iran has women in governmental offices, 3% of ministerial positions and 5% of parliament seats. In SA there are none!

While women actually outnumber men in universities in SA (as in the US), only about 1 in 5 will ever find employment, such is the prejudice against women and the desire to keep women from participating fully in society.

The US, and all Western countries really, are sincerely coping with the problems women face and are making constant progress, whereas Islam often insists on remaining in The Dark Ages.

Now, before you think I'm picking on Islam, bear in mind I'm here, an atheist in an atheist forum. I disapprove of all religions. You have brought all this on yourself by coming to an atheist forum and defending a religion. Here, it hardly matters which one. Were you defending Christianity or Zoroastrianism or even Buddhism, the result would have been similar.

It's just that Islam gives us ammunition in such great abundance, and with such extreme examples.

What do you expect?

Still, let's not forget the child fucking, which had nothing to do with culture, but with the wishes of a false prophet - true pedophile. And child marriages, which are still carried out because people take this pedophile prophet as an example.

Of course, culture and religion are intertwined so it's hard to distinguish semetimes. But the holy book does have different rules and privileges for men and women.

Oh, and what kOrsan said ... you know ... about the child fucking.

@Saannwal - Not shocked - you should be not just shocked, but also ashamed. Women certainly face challenges, because the nature of the male and testosterone - they will always be targets for inadequate men. And that is because women fight against dim brained inadequate men with the help of intelligent, confident men.

You and your lot are inadequate, incompetent and fearful of women. You try and keep women down, you are dismissing 50% of the brains of your country. Truly dumb - and women are fighting back in all Muslim countries - and with the help of communication, we know what is going on in these countries. Certainly men rape in Australia, but they go to jail - what is the penalty in Muslim countries. The light is shining on these violent, misogynistic men - they can't hide anymore, that is the only reason the hatred of women, and what torture is done to them, is coming to light.

And I am glad you are on this site - stupid inadequate Muslims are reminding everybody about what an evil religion you belong to.

As usual - you will not answer any statements - typical.
